Information Source: "The Tanger-Metzger Genealogy," 1955. Andrew Denger (Tanger) came to America in about 1750 with mother and two siblings. He was listed in tax record as living in East Merlborough Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania in the years 1765 thru 1767. In 1768 he married and moved to Lancaster county. Tax records of Lampeter Township state that in 1772 and 1773 he was "likely a tenant farmer there until February 6, 1775, when he purchased forty-three acres for 393 pounds from George and Mary Hoish and John and Mary Brenneman," as The Tanger-Metzger Genealogy states.

"This land was surrounded by property of Christian Brenneman, Albright Keyler, and the late Jacob Myer. It was located in Conestoga Township, in that portion which in 1841 became Pequea Township. Evidence seems to locate it in the Run Valley section, southwest of the village of Willow Street." Andrew spent the rest of his life on this farm. Andrew died in 1823 of a stroke. His grave has not yet been found, "although [it] may lie in an unmarked grave at the Byerland Mennonite Church, where descendants are buried. There is also the possibility that [he, along with Catharine], was buried in a cemetery on his farm which has been destroyed."
