Narrative

Much of the information comes from the 1884 memoirs of grandson Joseph Urich, titled "A Short Disconnected History of the Schlott Family" and the later notes of Myron Schlott.
He appears in the records as Fredrick, Frederick and Friedrich.
According to muster roles, Fredrick served in 1783 in the 8th Co., 6th Battalion, of the Lancaster co. militia under Andrew Ream, captain, and Henry Ream, lieutenant.
Muddy Creek (Moden Krick) church records report Fredrick was confirmed in 1777 at age 15.
Nearly all of Fredrick's children eventually moved to Ohio. The initial contingent appears to have been the families of George and Samuel, in about 1823. A large group including Fredrick's wife Juliana, went west around 1829, leaving Fredrick behind at age 67 to live with his son Henry in Warwick twp. One can only wonder how it could be that he remained behind when his wife and nearly all of his children left for good. One thought is that he may have had a disabling or lingering illness.
According to grandson Joseph Uhrich, Fredrick is buried in "Uncle Henry's lot on Rabbit Hill". Joseph reports that he saw the grave, then only marked by a stone with no remaining inscription, when he visited in 1884. Rabbit Hill, now called Rothsville, is located in Warwick twp, west of Reamstown; reportedly named by the locals because the farmers there raised rabbits.
